How Online Behavioural Consultations with a Vet Behaviourist Work
A structured and supportive process to help your dog or cat overcome behavioural problems — all from the comfort of your home. As a UK-based veterinary behaviourist service, we guide you step-by-step through an online consultation tailored to your pet’s behavioural needs.
📞 Step 1: Request a Free Discovery Call
Start by requesting a free 15-minute Discovery Call using our contact form. This is not a consultation, but a quick call to:
Understand what behaviour issues you’re experiencing;
Explain how online behavioural consultations work;
Outline how behaviour is shaped by health, history, and environment;
Make sure this service is the right fit for you and your pet.
You’ll speak directly with the veterinary behaviourist who will follow your case from start to finish.
🗓️ Step 2: Schedule Your Online Consultation & Confirm Payment
If you decide to go ahead after our call, we’ll help you choose a date and time that works for you. You’re welcome to take some time to think before confirming. Payment is required to secure your booking and finalise your spot.
We believe in full transparency — you can view all our fees here.
👩🏻⚕️ Step 3: Vet Referral & Medical History Review
This is a referral-only service, meaning we work in collaboration with your regular veterinary surgeon. With your permission, we’ll contact your vet directly to request your pet’s full medical records, which we’ll carefully review before the consultation.
Your vet may contact you to confirm consent before releasing the documents.
👩🏻💻 Step 4: Online Consultation with the Veterinary Behaviourist
You’ll meet remotely with a UK-licensed veterinary behaviourist for a thorough, one-to-one video consultation. The session typically lasts between 90 minutes and 3 hours, depending on your pet’s individual needs and the complexity of the case.
During the consultation, we will:
Explore your pet’s behaviour in depth — from early development and daily routines to current symptoms and emotional responses;
Carefully review your pet’s full medical history to identify any medical factors linked to their behaviour;
Classify the behavioural issues (such as anxiety, fear-based reactivity, phobias, or compulsive behaviours), and identify emotional and environmental triggers that may be contributing to the problem;
We’ll share practical behaviour modification tools you can begin using right away, and provide easy-to-follow handouts tailored to your home setting, to help you implement the plan confidently.
This session is the foundation of your personalised behaviour plan — based on clinical experience and your pet’s unique history.
Want to Know How a Behavioural consultation works?
Discover why the first session takes up to 3 hours, what makes it so in-depth, and how it lays the groundwork for real, lasting progress.
📄 Step 5: Receive Your Personalised Behaviour Plan
Within two weeks of the consultation, you’ll receive a detailed, written behaviour plan — fully tailored to your pet and home environment. The plan includes:
A clear explanation of your pet’s behaviour;
Daily routines and step-by-step strategies to help your pet improve over time;
Long-term guidance and management advice to support lasting results;
Practical tools to handle specific challenges (e.g. reactivity, house soiling, separation anxiety).
A copy of the report will be sent to both you and your regular veterinary surgeon. If we suspect any underlying medical condition, we’ll advise appropriate further investigations. In cases where behavioural medication could be beneficial, we’ll provide a detailed therapeutic plan.
Please note: any medication must be prescribed and dispensed by your regular vet, as only the veterinary surgeon who has conducted a clinical assessment can legally prescribe medications under the RCVS Code of Professional Conduct.
🤝🏼 Step 6: Ongoing Support & Follow-up
We won’t leave you on your own after the consultation.
You’ll have unlimited access to email or WhatsApp support for up to 2 months, so you can ask questions, share updates, and receive guidance as you apply the plan.
At the end of this 2-month period, you’ll also be invited to book a 30-minute follow-up session — included in your package — to review progress and consolidate your results. Our goal is to help you implement changes with confidence, knowing you’re supported every step of the way.
